"The help HomeShareSLO offered in connecting us, drawing up an agreement and facilitating the signing was incredibly helpful and gives me security knowing I'm in a good situation. Knowing my home provider was background-checked gives me comfort as well." --Jenae W., Atascadero
"I had the most pleasant experience with Home Share SLO. Not only did they provide a great roommate, they facilitated a contract change without skipping a beat. I would highly recommend the organization." --Pauline, Nipomo
"Being a single senior female on a limited income, my stress level was over the top trying to find housing. Thank you for the wonderful attention to detail and matching me in the absolute best situation." -Dennice C., Los Osos
"I live in a larger home and I had some extra space. I'd been alone in the home for about 5 years and I thought well, maybe I should give it a try... I think they do a good job of checking people's credentials. That was a good safety factor for me. I think HSSLO does a real good job of matching people up. We get along really well. We make each other laugh. I would recommend it for others." -Beth W., Grover Beach
Conserving resources by sharing. Building community and reducing isolation. Living mindfully with less impact. Finding creative solutions to rising housing costs. Acknowledging that humans are social animals and do best with regular face-to-face interaction. The desire to stay in the home as we age. These are some of the factors driving the home sharing trend among milennials and Baby Boomers alike. Too many of us live alone, in homes too large for our needs, with expenses beyond our means. Affordable housing projects take years to approve and fund, and are expensive to build. HomeShareSLO, a 501(c)(3) non-profit, can help bridge the gap between needs and available resource by facilitating home share matches and adding affordable housing units.
Choosing your home share partner is up to you. We'll provide pre-screened applicants who match your preferences. HomeShareSLO abides by the Fair Housing laws and accepts all applicants, regardless of race, religion, color, national origin, age, sex, sexual orientation, marital status, disability, the presence of minor children, receipt of public assistance or gender identity. It is your decision regarding who you want to live with.
